Masala puri, or Masalpuri, is an Indian #snack which is especially popular in the southern states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. A form of chaat, the dish originated in the Indian state of Karnataka and has now become famous in the entire Indian subcontinent. Chaats or chaat items are well known as street food and lip-smacking recipes.

Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
#Peas Masala (Aloo - Matar curry)
#Green Peas - 200 grams
#Potato - 1 big in size
Green chilly - 3 -4
Coriander leaves - 1 cup
Pudina leaves - 1 cup
Onion - 1 large in size
Garlic cloves - 4
#Ginger - chocked 1 tbsp
Cinnamon cloves - 3
Garam masala powder - 1 tbsp
Jeera seeds - 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp
Tamarind - small chunk
Tomato - 1 medium in size
11/2 tbsp salt
Puri
Wheat flour - 1 cup
Wheat small rawa (Bombay rawa) - 2 tbsp
Salt - as per taste
hot oil - 1 tbsp
Garnishing
Coriander leaves - small choked
Carrot - grated
Onion - small sliced
Boondi or Sev
Lemon Juice
Instructions:
Peas Masala (Aloo - Matar curry)
Soak green peas in the water for 4 -5 hours.
Put #greenpeas into the pressure cooker and allow up to 2 whistles. Keep it aside for later use
Add #potato into the pressure cooker to boil and allow up to 2 whistles.
Mash the potato with potato masher and keep it aside for later use.
Add Coriander leaves, pudina leaves, garlic cloves, ginger chunks, tomato, onion, green chilly, cloves into the mixie and grind it to the smooth paste
Add green peas and boiled/mashed potato into the medium sized pan
Add masala into the same pan.
Boil it for 15 minutes on medium flame
Add salt as per taste
Simmer it for 5 more minutes. Curry is ready for serving.
Puri
Add wheat flour, rawa, salt and hot oil into the bowl
Add some water and mix it together
Make it a smooth dough
Knead it and cut it into round small shaped dough using kneader
Add oil into the medium sized pan to fry puris
Once oil is hot, add puri dough and fry it until golden brown
Plating and Garnishing
Crush puris into the plate
Add Aloo-matar curry on top of the puris
Garnish it with carrot, onion and coriander leaves on the top
Add lemon juice on the top
You can serve this dish when it is hot. This is delicious, rich, appealing and appetizing.
