Okra has a high #nutrition content and is an economic crop grown in tropical and subtropical areas. This nonstarchy #vegetable is resistant against extreme heat and drought conditions but susceptible to frosts, which can damage the pods. Okra is a nutritious food with many #health benefits which is rich in magnesium, folate, fiber, antioxidants, and #vitamin C, K1, and A. Moreover, it is worked as medicine for pregnant women, heart health and blood sugar control.
Recipe goes below:
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
· Okra – 500 grams
· Onion – 2 Nos
· Tomato – 1 No
. Toor Dal - 3/4 cup
· Red Chilly – 8 nos
· Urad dal – 2 Tbsp
· Chana Dal – 1 Tbsp
· Coriander – 1 Tbsp
· Methi (Fenugreek) – ½ Tbsp
· Jeera – 1 Tbsp
· Asafetida – ½ Tbsp
· Tamarind – small chunk
· Coconut – 3 Tbsp
· Turmeric – ½ Tbsp
· Salt – 2 Tbsp
· Mustard – ½ Tbsp
· Curry leaves - 8 -10
· Oil as needed
Instructions:
Wash and cut the Okra, onions, tomato and keep it for later use.
Soak #tamarind chunks in a hot cup of water for 30 minutes. Keep it aside for later use
Add little #oil in the small vessel
Add #Red #Chilly, Urad Dal, #Chana Dal, Coriander, Methi and Jeera
Fry until it is golden brown and keep it aside to cool down
Once it is cool, add this into the Jar, additionally add turmeric and asafetida.
Add little water and grind it to the smooth #masala. Keep it aside for later use.
Add #Toor dal into the cooker. Leave it up to 3 whistles.
Once #Toor dal is cooked, transfer it into the cooking vessel
Add all #vegetables into the cooking vessel as well
Add 2 tbsp salt
cook it in a medium heat for 5 minutes
Add tamarind juice and #masala
Leave it for 5 more minutes. Delicious #sambhar is ready for serving now.
