Updated: Mar 3, 2020

Paris is one destination that no traveler can resist visiting, be it for its fashion week, or simply roaming around in the flashy streets! Read on to know what all awaits you in this blog!

Cathedral's View along the Seine river

Paris is a picturesque dream destination. It is because of all these spectacular places to visit in Paris that it is considered to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

“London is a riddle. Paris is an explanation. –Ernest Hemingway

Notre Dame Cathedral

Notre-Dame de Paris, also called Notre-Dame Cathedral, cathedral church in Paris. The Gothic cathedral reflects the prominent role of Paris as an economic and spiritual center in the 12th century, and its scars from the French Revolution are reminders of its long connection with the monarchy. Thousands of visitors enter its doors each day to photograph its rose windows and flying buttresses.

However it is now closed off to visitors following the devastating fire of April 2019, this masterpiece of French Gothic architecture remains the city’s geographic and spiritual heart. This attraction can now be visited from outside and you can quickly grab some photographs from your camera.

View from front of the Cathedral

Highlights: On a small island in the Seine river, you will find the world famous Cathedral, its towers reaching up to Heaven from the heart of Paris. I have visited Notre-Dame more than three times and every time I admire the history and architectural triumphs.

Travel Tip: Note that interior to cathedral is temporarily closed to visitors for renovation. Notre-Dame interior is expected to be opened to tourists by 2024. I would suggest my readers to visit the and capture some memorable photos in front of the cathedral to save it in your diaries and phone memories. Entrance was Free to the cathedral when I last visited but there are small fees if you want to enter the Tower (€8.50).

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe Paris, the most monumental of all triumphal arches, was built between 1806 and 1836. The Arc de Triomphe stands at the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle, also known as the “Place de l’Étoile”. It’s located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. It qualifies as the world’s tallest arch.

I would recommend you take some photos just across the road if you are on a tight schedule. So when you are visiting Paris definitely visit this Arch, let it bring you back in time.

Highlights: Place Charles de Gaulle formerly named Place de l'Étoile—the étoile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues. The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.

Travel Tip: From the observation deck at the top of the arch, breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower, the Sacré Coeur, and the Louvre are also in store. There are generally no long lines at the Arc de Triomphe anyway, so there's really nothing to be gained by buying them in advance. Free entrance with Paris Pass. If you are interested to purchase it separately it will cost you approx. (€12.00).
