Silky Sands, Turquoise Surf

Updated: Mar 11, 2020

One day, I got a surprise from my hubby and it was about my honeymoon trip. As soon as he uttered the word “Maldives”, “Paradise island”, it blew my mind away. Paradise. It’s a dream like world surrounded with turquoise sea and beautiful nature. It was Nov’ 2014 summer time in Maldives. It was a customized package trip from Makemytrip.com which included return flights, 4 days stay at Paradise Island resort, commute to and from Airport and food(obviously!). If my memory helps me, it costed ~1.75Lakhs for a couple.

In a hot and breezy days, we started our journey from Chennai, India. As soon as we reached Maldives Airport, Makemytrip team provided speed boat to commute to the dream world “Paradise Island resort and Spa”. Though I heard about villas and seen pictures too, the experience of staying in one totally bowled me over. We checked into a Superior beach bungalow at the resort. The expansive room, providing an uninterrupted view of the sky, beach and sea, these are ideal for the guests looking for a serene getaway with a mesmerizing view.

“Let's go somewhere, the Sun kisses the Ocean.”

Day 1: As soon as we checked into our room, the very look of the expansive room bowled me over. Beach bungalows are beautiful and offer guests an easy access to the beach. We spent most of our time in the bungalow- watching the sun rise from my room, going for a swim in the lagoon water at the sunset and soaking in the bathtub with my favorite book. Complimentary wi-fi meant I could instantly upload the inspiring pictures on Facebook and Instagram; the luxury I didn’t enjoy at some resorts I checked-into so far.

With six restaurants and five bars, dining experience at this resort was memorable. The restaurant provided ample menu options starting from local cuisine to continental cuisines. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that 4 day stay at the resort won’t be enough to taste this entire menu options. Farumathi, the ala carte seafood restaurant is built on the edge of the reef and offers splendid view of the Indian Ocean. Must try the Maldivian lobster here and some cocktails at the air terrace. The shark feeding also happens every evening near the air

terrace.

Day 2: Water sports. The resort has several activities to get your adrenaline rushing like snorkeling, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, canoeing & diving or just take a couple of yoga lessons. We both indulged in water sports especially parasailing and speed boat. We spent most of our time exploring adventure in a sunny and breezy day at resort in addition to diving into the array of dining experiences. We ended our day with a fabulous dinner followed by a romantic beach walk.

Day 3: We spent most of our morning time relaxing at the beach. Afternoon, we indulged in this amazing tour and get to see the real beauty of Maldives. We started off from Hulhumale jetty around 01:30 PM, transferring to the location of activity and indulged in snorkeling and relaxed along the long beaches and white sands. After snorkeling, we headed for the search of dolphins which will swim along your boat, jumping and diving into the sea. In the evening, we witnessed sun kissing the horizon and making the waves of gold & orange color and calming your senses.

Day 4: Bid adieu day. We had to say good bye to Maldives and Paradise heavy heartedly. It was indeed a memorable journey which lingers in mind over and over again even after 5 years of my marriage journey.
